On September 27, 2025, Central of Georgia steam returned to Central of Georgia rails...in spirit at least. Southern Railway 4501 pulled the first Summerville Steam Special of the fall masquerading as Central of Georgia 699. The disguise was created for the annual Founders Day a few weeks prior, and it was decided to keep it on for the excursion to honor the history of the CofG which once owned the line from Chattanooga to Summerville, part of a system that once connected cities across Georgia and Alabama.
