In mid-November 2024, CSX Transportation ran their 82nd annual Santa Train along the rails of the old Clinchfield through the Appalachian Mountains. This year's running had two notable additions: a special stop of the Holiday Express in Erwin, Tennessee to support Hurrican Helene relief efforts, and the public debut of CSX's newest heritage unit honoring the Clinchfield Railroad which began the tradition all the way back in 1942.
