In Mexico, they celebrate life when someone dies. This funeral procession in El Fuerte, Mexico celebrated the life of a man named Ibarra, who was a member of one of the most important families in town. Residents walked or rode bikes behind the slowly moving hearse as it carried the casket from the church to the graveyard. At the rear, two trailers carried musicians who played in honor of the deceased. I was especially struck by how few tears or sad faces I saw. Instead, mourners were smiling and waving at me to take their photo.
