Every day the mahouts at Chitwan National Park take their elephants down to the river and give them a bath to get rid of the incessant dust in found this part of the country. As the mahouts yell and whistle, the elephants oblige by spouting water with their trunks, rolling over in the water, and sitting down, all while the mahout balances on the animal's broad back, to the delight of spectators who sit on decks or stand along the shore, watching the antics.
