Firefighters quickly scaled up operations next to the northbound 2 Freeway in Eagle Rock on July 16, 2026, as a fast-moving brush fire sped uphill toward homes on Palmer Drive.
LAFD Air Operations, Crew 4, and multiple fire companies worked together to halt the brush fire, extinguish an involved single-family home, protect neighboring residences, and safely evacuate occupants and pets. One firefighter sustained a minor injury and was transported to a local hospital.
Firefighters knocked down all active flames in approximately 90 minutes. Companies continued to rotate onto the scene overnight and into the following day, containing the burned brush area and overhauling structural damage.
