Catholics often complain that homilies and catechesis avoid difficult subjects: sin, judgment, hell, marriage, and the moral demands of the faith. But refusing to teach these doctrines does not protect people from pain. It merely ensures that they encounter the truth later—often after making life-altering decisions they might have made differently had the Church properly prepared them.
In this video, I examine how diluted, childish catechesis drives young Catholics away, leaves adults unprepared for serious objections, and can devastate those who return to the faith only to discover that essential teachings were withheld from them. The Church possesses one of the richest intellectual, theological, and moral traditions in history. Catholics deserve to receive all of it.
