It’s spring here at Lake Ketchabigwon, and what that means is that the fishing should be easy. Likewise, I found a lemon-pepper fish recipe online that looks easy. This one also looks scrumptious! Now, let’s get some fish. See the recipes and fishing equipment that I used in the description below.

Lemon-Pepper Fish Recipe

INGREDIENTS
1 stick of butter
enough oil to cover bottom of very large skillet
1 to 1½ pounds of fish fillets
1 cup of flour (I use almond flour)
lemon pepper seasoning
salt (if not already in lemon-pepper seasoning)

DIRECTIONS
In a very large skillet, melt butter on a medium-high heat.
Add just enough oil to cover bottom of skillet.
Dust fish in flour using shake and bake technique.
Add fish to hot oil and butter, then season with lemon pepper.
Turn in 2 minutes and season other side, cook for 2 more minutes.
Serve.

The recipe was inspired by two different recipes. One I found here, mysanfranciscokitchen.com/lemon-pepper-swai/ and the one I found here, food.com/recipe/lemon-pepper-tilapia-263057

Pan Fried Asparagus

Ingredients
¼ cup butter
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 teaspoon coarse salt
¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
3 garlic cloves, minced
½ Lb. fresh asparagus spear, trimmed

Directions
Melt butter in a skillet over medium-high heat.
Stir in the olive oil, salt, and pepper.
Cook garlic in butter for a minute, but do not brown.
Add asparagus, and cook for 10 minutes, turning asparagus to ensure even cooking.

Fishing equipment I used for this video:

The lure was a 2½ inch Zman Slim SwimZ in Suicidal Rooster color.

The jig head is a Gopher 1/16 ounce mushroom head jig in black/chartreuse.

The spinning reel is a Pflueger Trion GX-5. This model is no longer made.

The spinning rod is a tiny Daiwa SMC401ULFS Spinmatic-C SpinRod (4 Feet, Ultra Light, 1 Piece, 1-4 pound line test recommended). It can be found on Amazon, Fish USA, and other places.

The spinning reel line is SpiderWire, Ultracast, Invisi-Braid in 10 pound test, 2 pound monofilament equivalent.

The boat is a Bass Hunter I ordered from Bass Pro Shops about 12 years ago. They no longer sell it. Also, this model is no longer available, but newer models like it are still sold. Check here: sportsmansguide.com/product/index/bass-hunter-ex-96-boat?a=670576&pm2d=CSE-SPG-15-PLA&utm_medium=PLA&utm_source=Google&utm_campaign=CI&ci_src=17588969&ci_sku=WX2*0186929000000&gclid=COz4v7CNocsCFQmQaQod_-EG4g

The fish in Lake Ketchabigwon are largemouth bass, bluegill, white crappie, black crappie, yellow perch, channel catfish, and grass carp.

The lake is 6 acres and located in NE Ohio. It is actually a small reservoir fed by an intermittent creek.
