Remember, it’s the law to stop for pedestrians at crosswalks. If you don’t, expect to pay the price.
We teamed up with Bike/Walk Central Florida to remind drivers to stop for pedestrians. Our decoy pedestrian waited to cross the street at the crosswalk, and when drivers failed to stop, our officers were ready to issue warnings and citations.
We’re not trying to trap you; we’re trying to save lives. So far this year, 18 pedestrians have been killed in crashes. That’s 18 too many, and we want to avoid another life lost. So, we’ll continue to monitor for good driving habits, like stopping for pedestrians, to keep our roads safe.
And pedestrians, you’re not off the hook. Remember to use the crosswalks, look both ways, wear bright colors, and avoid walking when its not lit properly.
