Corrections Officer Obbie Johnson was on shift at the Community Transition Center when an inmate alerted him: a woman had jumped off a bridge into the water. Corrections Officer Johnson rushed to the pond and found the woman floating face down. Corrections Officer Johnson didn’t hesitate; he jumped in, pulled her out, and started CPR on her.
JFRD responded and took over, taking the woman to the hospital.
Thankfully, she survived, thanks to Corrections Officer Johnson’s quick reaction.
Sheriff Waters recognized Corrections Officer Johnson earlier this week, presenting him with the Corrections Officer of the Month award and a JSO Lifesaving Medal.
