After uploading the first game, I decided to play the second. I hadn't played this game since it was brand new in February 2014 on the Xbox 360.
Some thoughts and tips -
- The Brotherhood of Light isn't as cool as when Gabriel and Zobek were in it - but they are funny as enemies in this game. "Die, devil!" and "move away! He's mine!" And especially the main Paladin enemy - voicing stuff like "dai mawnstah, yu don't belawng in this wuhrld!" And when he starts chanting in Latin and Dracula copies him as a mockery. The voice acting is very XD XD XD
- Robert Carlyle is a gem as Dracula in this game. Patrick Stewart is outstandingly hammy as Zobek, much more than the first game.
- Overall, I can agree with peoples' criticism of this game - too much stealth and too many crap puzzles when it should have focused on action. Even the action isn't as good as the original game, with the enemies not flinching as easily and interrupting you if you try to get fancy, leading to a lot of basic combos on your part to stay safe.
- This is a very violent game - it's not enough that Dracula drains the blood of his enemies when you grab them, nope, they have to explode into a cloud of blood too when you finish them off. It's very gratuitous, but as this was a PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 game, it's not super detailed.
- One thing I love more than the first game is that you can turn off QTE prompts in the options, letting you chill out in the cutscenes. No more crap fails when you're not expecting it. I turned it off pretty much instantly when I started playing the game, both in the Xbox 360 version and PC version.
