So in the first part of this video I'll show you how I made a mould of a specific part of an object to add that piece on top of the part at the end of the project. That way you could for example make some air scoops out of carbonfiber for bonnets on cars and so on. This is not the fastest way or the cheapest way but it will give you the best results and lightest parts when following this tutorial to the letter.

The first step is to make a mould. First I've cleaned the original part with some mouldcleaner from easycomposites and removed any sticker left on the part. After that I've measured the part that will be added on top of this part, btw in case you didn't know this is a fieldhockey ballthrowing machine to train goalies, attackers, defenders with balls that are thrown at a specific place time after time.

The main goal of this project is to add an item to the machine that will make it possible to power the machine by electricity coming traight out of the net instead of having to use batteries that keep on running flat.

So the current transformer was measured and duplicated in wood, this was done to avoid havint to make a mould on top of this expensive part. As well all the dimensions were a bit bigger to make it possible to get the cover all over this part.

So a block of wood was cut and trimmed to size, then coated with some coating epoxy, now called XCR coating epoxy, after sanding it was placed on top of the machine where it should fit. The mould and the part that will be made out of this mould are exactly following the curves of the original part.

Then the release agent was put on and the mould was made by using fiberglass, CSM, by using the different resins in the mouldmaking tooling resin system. Starting with a gelcoat followed by a coupling coat then finishing by using the tooling resin.
The mould was then removed and ready to make parts from (check part 2 if you are interested in the part making)
