I was so excited to see Romeo and Tuff'n again and they seemed so pleased to see me after 9 months apart. I love the way Romeo looked straight at my husband who was filming him, as if to say "What are you doing?" In the early days Romeo did not like to be photographed or filmed, or have the camera pointed at him. Capybaras are very sensitive and there must be something about what they see and sense when someone films them which they can find upsetting. I love the way that Tuff'n only comes out when he hears my voice, and when I speak to him the second time there is a spring in his step as he walks faster towards me. You can see Tuff'n pause when he gets near Romeo. He must have sensed Romeo's jealousy, perhaps Romeo made a vocalisation outside the range of human hearing, or perhaps it was his body language, which made Tuff'n move away. My time with Romeo and Tuff'n was the most magical time of my life.
