Tetraodon schoutedeni is a 100% freshwater pufferfish from the Congo River Basin in Central Africa. One of its best-known habitats is Pool Malebo, between Kinshasa (DR Congo π¨π©) and Brazzaville (Republic of the Congo π¨π¬), with additional records from the Ubangi drainage.
Unlike some other commonly kept pufferfish, this species is a true freshwater fish and does not require brackish or marine water.
Growing to around 9 cm, it feeds mainly on snails, worms and other invertebrates.
