In this journal entry I'll look at the Canon Typestar 10-II. Similar to the1983 Brother EP-22 that I hooked to my QL as a printer, the Canon uses the same thermal print technology, being able to print either with a special ribbon cartridge or on thermal paper. The Cannon goes one step further and offers a erasable thermal ribbon that lets you lift off what the heating element transfers to the paper. Although its 36x24 print head blows the EP-22, with its 5x7, away, its other features are quite lacking. And though it doesn't have a printer port, there are projects that interface and replace matrix-style keyboard so could a serial byte stream take the place of an external keyboard? Future project?
