Scouring and erosion in canals can compromise structural integrity and lead to costly maintenance or failure. This FLOW-3D HYDRO simulation uses the Sediment Transport model to evaluate erosion protection strategies in a canal with plunging jets. The model includes rip-rap sections for scour prevention and erodible bed material downstream, allowing visualization of scour development after the protected zone and erosion on the canal bank. Color mapping by net elevation change shows the progression of bed degradation. CFD modeling can help you optimize erosion protection designs and predict long-term canal stability.
