This FLOW-3D HYDRO simulation showcases its tailings modelling capabilities over a hybrid 2D and 3D mesh domain. The tailings storage facility includes different layers of non-Newtonian tailings properties combined with a water layer on top. The mesh domain around the initial breach is 3D to allow vertical mixing of the different layers. The mesh transitions to 2D once the fluids are well-mixed to handle the larger downstream breach extent while saving on computational effort.
