From the time the hype train departed the station, the developers of Doom Eternal made it clear that weapon mods are an essential part of the game because of how limited ammo is, you can’t just rely on a single weapon anymore like you could with the Pistol in Doom 2016. But what if you wanted to keep your guns as basic as possible? Can You Beat Doom Eternal Without Any Weapon Upgrades?

Can You Beat Doom Eternal Without Any Weapon Upgrades? (in text form)
Upon starting Doom Eternal, you’ll be faced with the first and only choice you’ll have to make throughout this entire nightmare, whether to play on baby mode or super baby mode. I, being the weakling I am, chose to play on Ultra Baby mode. The helmet in the picture is close to the one I wear. The brief intro cinematic panned in from ing space, Doom Guy retrieved his little pea shooter that isn’t a Pistol, Doom Eternal, and the game begins. Right out the gate, it’s revealed that our goal is to kill 3 Hell Priests to stop the invasion of Earth.
Fun fact: At this point, I was thinking this would be a Combat Shotgun only playthrough, which was why I restarted the mission after the first Glory Kill. I also noticed that something about the game felt off, like floaty or vague and loose like a good stirring wheel. The chained saw joined the party in style by forcing itself to be used, thus ending the Combat Shotgun only playthrough and birthing the No Weapon Upgrades challenge. Not even 12 minutes in and Todd Howard required me to abuse the robot friend and acquire a weapon mod.
The good news is that from what I know about them, which isn’t much since I never used them, the first mods you’ll get for any weapon give it some unique ability or feature instead of just buffing it. For the purposes of this challenge, it’s beneficial that you can obtain the weapon mods and choose to not use them. Some time later I would learn that you can unequip the mods in the menu to completely remove the possibility that you’ll accidentally use them. Then I squeezed the head off a king, got a glimpse at a wedding, and saw the most absolute of a unit anyone has ever laid their eyes on.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with this year’s Animal Crossing, here’s how it works. You run through an area, clear out an arena full of demons, do some platforming, rinse for 20 seconds, and repeat. And because for once in my life I can actually use multiple weapons in a Doom game, the first level wasn’t terrible. I started noticing rather early that melee-ing the pathetic weaklings didn’t automatically stagger them like it did last year, also that I suck at platforming.

![7 Things That Were Cut From Bioshock
Despite what you might believe when playing Bioshock, the game actually had a fair amount of content cut from it. Some things are insignificant, while others would make Bioshock a completely different game. This is… 7 Things That Were Cut From Bioshock.

7 Things That Were Cut From Bioshock (in text form)
7. There are some unused audio files found in Bioshock for Cal Franklin, the captain of Apollo Air Flight DF-0301 that Jack is onboard at the start of the game. The audio files are actually just subtitle files, but they suggest a different opening of the game where the plane crashes due to a malfunction, instead of being hijacked.
6. Looking through the game files reveals that there would have been another machine in the game, called the Research Machine. Instead of simply taking pictures of enemies to gain information and stat boosts against them, you would have to take the pictures to the Research Machine to develop the photos, which would cost money. The Research Machine, like the other vending machines found in the game, would have been able to be hacked to reduce the cost of developing photos.
5. Early in Bioshock’s development, the Little Sisters were not the ones who gathered and produced ADAM in Rapture. The original idea was for the sea slugs that are now harvested from Little Sisters to be the actual gatherers of ADAM. You would encounter them and extract the ADAM from them. The developers also considered using frogs, chipmunks, crabs, or even a crippled dog. The ideas were scrapped and Little Sisters were introduced so that the player would feel empathy for them, making the choice of whether to harvest them or save them all the more difficult.
4. In Bioshock: The Collection, you can enter the Museum of Orphaned Concepts, which is exactly what you’d expect it to be, a little museum where you can explore various things that didn’t make it into Bioshock. One section of the museum was for Aggressors. Early on in Bioshock’s development before Splicers were created, Aggressors were the game’s main enemy type. There were several types of Aggressors, but they were all Rapture dwellers who purposefully mutated themselves with EV in order to become stronger and be more proficient with weapons as Rapture started falling apart.
3. At some point during the development of Bioshock, it had a weapon called the Bioweapon, which resembles a bug sprayer. It worked with chemicals that would later be incorporated into the player’s body as Plasmids. The four chemicals were Insect Swarm, Berserk, likely an early version of Enrage, a plasmid that was some sort of a repellent, and Disease Cloud.
2. Bioshock has a few cut Gene Tonics, with one of them being Organic Pockets. When equipped, it would allow the player to carry twice the amount of first aid kits and EVE hypos. It’s unknown when it was removed, or why, though it was likely removed because having twice the amount of first aid kits would have made portions of the game too easy.
1. Bioshock was originally going to have a single ending, instead of the multiple endings that the game had when it launched. In an interview with Gamespot, Ken Levine, the director of Bioshock, said the following:
“One of the reasons I was opposed to multiple endings is I never want to do things that have multiple digital outcomes, versus analog outcomes. I want to do it like the weapons system in the combat in BioShock. There are a million different things you can do in every combat; you can play it a million different ways. Looking into the future for the franchise, that’s something I want to [figure out], that by the time you get to the ending of that choice path, you have a sense of your impact on the world through lots of little permutations rather than like a giant ending piece, if you follow my meaning. And I think we did a reasonably good job with [the endings], but there are just two of them. And this is not a game about A and B. This is a game about one through 1 million, and all those permutations of choice. And as I think about the future of the franchise, that’s where I want to take that.” 7 Things That Were Cut From Bioshock](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/HBc5CsKcjnc/mqdefault.jpg)

Can You Beat Fallout 3 Without Taking Any Damage? (in text form)
Let’s get something out of the way real quick. I did use a console command for this playthrough, but I did it for a reason. You can keep track of your health and manually reload old saves if you get hit. I didn’t want to do that. So I used a console command to set my health to 1, a single hit point, so that any damage at all will kill me and reload my most recent save. The end result is the same, this just makes it less of a hassle to deal with.
Now, onto the playthrough. Because we can’t take any damage, Strength and Endurance are dump stats. Perception and Intelligence are vital. Perception so that I can see enemies from the maximum possible distance and Intelligence to get as many skill points as possible when leveling up. I also drained Luck, maxed out Agility, and put the remaining points into Charisma. From there I have a birthday party, go to class, and assign skill points. I went with Sneak, Small Guns, and Speech. Small Guns might seem the like odd category out, as a getting into a firefight is a veritable death sentence. I’m playing on Very Easy, and with a Sneak bonus, I have a chance at taking out enemies before they know I’m there.
Before we go any further, here’s a shot of my Pip-Boy showing that my health is at 1/1 [1 of 1]. It’ll be like this throughout the rest of the playthrough.
I decided to be a real prick in this run, so I killed Butch’s mom, left the radroaches to devour her copse, killed Butch, killed Tom and Mary Holden, killed Officer Richards and Officer O’Brian, killed Security Chief Hannon, killed Officer Mack, killed the Overseer, killed Officer Park and Officer Wolfe, and finally left the Vault. After arriving at Megaton, I sold what I could to Crazy Wolfgang, then killed him and took my stuff back, killed Micky, beat Deputy Weld to death, though not before he killed me first, and entered Megaton. My initial goal was simple: Get negative karma and, by any means necessary, accumulate 1000 caps so that I’d be able to get Jericho as a companion. You may be thinking that killing Moira would be a good source of caps, and you’re right, but I’ve got some plans for her.
By that point, I was about 650 caps short of acquiring Jericho. So I did what I always do, head straight for Vault 87. Along the way, I once again proved that if you have the higher ground, your enemies don’t stand a chance. Fun fact: Turrets explode when they’re destroyed, and that can be dangerous. Beneath the town I found lied an encampment of Raiders, all of whom were killed and looted. You’re probably thinking “Wow, this seems easy so far” and you’d be correct. With the Assault Rifle I got from Wolfgang, Raiders can be killed before they have a chance to aim. But things are about to get a lot worse. Back above ground were more Raiders. These Raiders have guns and they know how to use them. I spent 15 minutes trying to kill them all. And. I. Died. So. Many. God. Damn. Times. It’s. Not. Even. Funny.
After that ordeal was over with, I finally had enough stuff to sell get up to 1000 caps. Before meeting Jericho, I struck a deal with Mister Burke. I convinced Jericho to join me and it was time for more good old fashioned violence. I tried to rig the bomb to explode, but you need your Explosive skill to be at least 25, and mine wasn’t.
