We are taking the girls down to the Alpena Ice Fest 2026! It is a beautiful, snowy, and slightly slushy morning here in Michigan, but that won't stop Memphis, Kira, and Eleanor from having a blast. We weren't sure if the ground would be too tough for Memphis, but the snow was packed down perfectly at Mich-e-ke-wis Park, allowing her to meet some amazing fans and see the incredible ice sculptures carved by local artists.
After exploring the park, we headed downtown Alpena to check out the storefronts and see the progress on the deli. The girls got so much love from everyone we ran into! While the "slop" on the roads was a bit much for Memphis to handle for too long, she had a great time sitting in the giant ice chair for photos. Later in the evening, I took Eleanor back out to see the sculptures lit up with fire and to visit our friends from Thunder Bay Arts.
It was a wet and chilly day, but making these memories is what life is all about. We wrap up the day with some very sleepy, happy Siberian Huskies dreaming about their big adventure. From Bigfoot ice carvings to fire features and frozen mailboxes, this year's Ice Fest was one for the books!
HIGHLIGHTS FROM OUR DAY
❄️ Starting the morning with a snowy and slushy walk to the festival.
🧊 Memphis, Kira, and Eleanor meeting fans and getting all the pets.
📸 Taking iconic photos of the girls sitting in a giant carved ice chair.
🏗️ Peeking in the windows of the deli to see the latest construction updates.
🐾 Eleanor demanding to be carried so she could see the sculptures better.
🎨 Admiring the colorful ice art and the junior high school's adorable carvings.
🔥 Returning downtown with Eleanor to see the fire features light up the night.
🦴 Heading home to dry off and let the girls nap after a busy day.
