C-21 remains before the senate, where it's being debated before the second vote is held, which will (all almost all likelihood) send it to the Senate's Standing Committee on National Security, Defence, and Veteran's Affairs; otherwise known as SECD.
Thing is, scant days remain in the Senate's calendar before they rise on the 30th of June for the summer recess. Can the Liberals get it through in the remaining time? What happens if they prorogue to duck questioning about Chinese interference?
And how do the recent calls for Minister of Public Safety Marco Mendicino to resign (due to... well, a litany of reasons but most recently his ignorance/lying around the Paul Bernardo prison transfer) likely to influence all these events? And of course, what does it mean for the reconstitution of the Canadian Firearms Advisory Committee - charged with producing a list of firearms recommended to be prohibited, if a new Minister is parachuted in between sessions?
