BUSY Day on the Farm - Moving Chickens and Harvesting From the Garden
Today was one of those classic busy homestead days where everything needed doing! We started by moving our egg-laying chickens to fresh pasture, giving them new ground to scratch and forage. Then we relocated our guineas into chicken tractors as part of our rotational poultry setup.
After the birds were settled, we headed to the garden to harvest some beautiful summer tomatoes and fragrant basil. The basil went straight into the dehydrator for long-term storage, part of our ongoing effort to build a resilient and well-stocked food storage pantry.
Whether you're a seasoned homesteader or just dreaming of the simple life, this video offers a real look at daily farm chores, sustainable poultry management, and garden-to-pantry food preservation. We’re passionate about self-sufficiency, growing our own food, and preserving the old-fashioned skills that keep a modern homestead running strong.

We made a major new equipment purchase for Sheraton Park Farms, and the financial reason behind it might surprise you! From mobile chicken tractors to capital investments, here is how we keep the farm moving forward.
Today, Chuck kicks things off in the shop with side-by-side maintenance and a tease of a big farm update. Out in the pasture, Saundra moves our final batch of pasture-raised meat broilers from the brooder into the mobile chicken tractor, topping off feed and water. Next, tag along on our weekly run to pick up fresh, local raw milk from a neighboring farm before heading into the kitchen. Saundra takes our freeze-dried tomato skins—saved from our recent tomato sauce canning sessions—and pulverizes them in the food processor to make nutrient-dense, zero-waste tomato powder for winter cooking.
Finally, we head back up to the shop to unveil our newest piece of farm machinery: a brand new 2-seat Kawasaki Mule side-by-side. Chuck breaks down why we added this machine to tour guests around the farm, and dives into the practical business strategy behind making capital purchases to reduce heavy tax burdens while actively reinvesting in the land.
How do you handle year-end business investments, equipment upgrades, or zero-waste homestead kitchen tricks like tomato powder? Drop your thoughts below!

It was time to move the chickens.
They’ve been in the same location for a while, and if we want to continue building healthy soil, we have to keep them moving. In today’s video, we relocate our egg-mobile and portable fencing to a fresh section of pasture and get the birds settled into their new spot.
But that’s not the biggest change.
We’re also installing brand new roll-away style nest boxes designed to improve efficiency, keep eggs cleaner, and streamline our egg collection process for customers. We walk through the features of the nest boxes, explain why we made the investment, and show the full installation process.
This move is about more than location — it’s about building soil, improving systems, and constantly refining how we raise pasture-raised chickens.
✨ In this video you’ll see:
• Moving portable poultry fencing
• Relocating our egg-mobile
• Why rotational poultry builds better soil
• Installing roll-away nest boxes
• How roll-away systems keep eggs cleaner
• Improving efficiency in egg production
• Managing pasture-raised laying hens
If you’re raising chickens, building a homestead, or trying to improve your egg operation, this video may give you practical ideas you can use.

We are tired of washing dirty eggs! Today we are upgrading the Egg-Mobile with brand new roll-away nest boxes and moving the flock to fresh pasture.
It’s moving day for the laying flock at Sheraton Park Farms! The chickens have done their job scratching and fertilizing their current spot, so its time to set up the portable fencing and pull the Egg-Mobile onto fresh, green grass to continue building our soil.
But the biggest part of today’s video happens inside the coop. We are finally installing a brand new set of roll-away nest boxes!
If you raise chickens, you know that dirty eggs are a massive time-waster. We bought this new system to massively improve our farms efficiency, keep the eggs pristine for our customers, and make our daily chore routine so much faster. We’ll walk you through why we chose these specific boxes, their best features, and bring you along for the full installation.
In this video, you will see:
The Big Move: Relocating the Egg-Mobile to fresh pasture.
Portable Fencing: How we keep our free-range birds safe.
The Upgrade: Unboxing and reviewing our new roll-away nest boxes.
The Install: Step-by-step mounting inside the mobile coop.
The Results: Why this system produces cleaner eggs and saves us hours of work.
