I have a few neighbors and family that I like to give my bigger Christmas gifts to, and this year was a cutting board! They're edge grain and are maple and red grandis. I thought the combo looked a bit like a candy cane, but I didn't have enough (or want to waste enough wood) to make it angled, which would have probably helped a bit more. Anyway, my mom refuses to cut on the one I gave her, so I have no idea how well it works as an actual cutting board!
