This is a "secret weapon" grip builder of mine... it comes at you from 3 different directions.
1. You're holding onto the fat ends of the bars, which opens up your hands making them have to work harder.
2. Those fat ends spin freely so you ALSO have to control the rotation as you pull up AND not let the bars spin out of your hands.
3. The bars are angled down but you're facing AWAY so that your pinkies are HIGHER. This puts more loading onto the weak links of your grip, which are the 3rd, 4th and 5th fingers.

I also find, as a bonus, that the pinky-higher position puts a bit better stretch on the lats at the bottom so definitely come all the way down into a relaxed stretch on each rep and initiate the movement by driving your elbows down towards the floor.
