My initial overview of this new 2021 budget ultralight tent offering from 3F UL Gear, the LANSHAN 1.
Just giving my initial thoughts on the tents design and make a few comments on things that I would maybe recommend they change in the future to make it even better. However, it looks a well-made tent and I am really looking forward to taking it out to test in the real world.
The Lanshan 1 is a very lightweight and affordable tent and an excellent option for those wanting to start out in the world of wild camping and backpacking. The tent is a trekking pole setup which means the tent comes in at an overall weight of around 840 grams and you use one of your own trekking poles to set it up and give it structure. Note that you can also purchase a separate carbon fibre centre pole for it if you prefer to not use trekking poles.
The Difference Between Lanshan And Lanshan Pro:
1. Lanshan is double-layer. Its inner tent is separated from the rainfly. While the Lanshan Pro is single-layer, and its inner tent is stitched together with the rainfly.
2. Lanshan is made from 15d single-coated silicon fabric, while the Lanshan Pro is made from 20d double-coated silicon fabric which is a little lighter and stronger.
PLS NOTE:
The 3-season comes with an inner tent made from nylon mesh which is thin and breathable. So 3-season tents are more suitable for summer camping.
The 4-season comes with an inner tent made from nylon cloth which is thick and high-density, and it provides more protection from wind and draughts coming through.
This tent also needs to be seam-sealed by yourself! to ensure it is fully waterproof before use.

The Nigor WickiUp 3 / Shangri-La 3 pyramid tent. Is it the ideal four season tent for backpacking and wild camping?
After searching for months on the internet looking for the holy grail of tents I hope that at last I may have found one that ticks all the boxes. With several features that allow for different conditions and styles of camping it may be my new go to tent from now on and am looking forward to trying it out soon.!
Spent ages looking at Terra Novaโs, Hillebergโs, Tarptents, Trekkertent, Duomid, Trailstar and MSR to name a few but they all had one issue or another such as poor wind stability, condensation, weight, waiting lists, etc. So I wonder if this could be the ideal 4-Seasons tent for various scenarios?
It is a fairly Lightweight tent system, and could be fairly ultralight if just using the flysheet and your walking poles. This offers a good design with a great space-to-weight ratio. The pyramid style design with one DAC center pole cuts weight in a big way and is supposed to offer extreme stability in bad weather conditions.
Purchased the flysheet and pole setup and initially the single Luxe HexpeakV4 inner nest to try out the tent. plan on getting a full mesh inner from China and the proper Nigor double inner.
Tent could allow for the following combinations if you do a bit of searching and sourcing.
1. Flysheet only.
2. Flysheet and single person full inner mesh
3. Fly and single person solid inner
4. Flysheet and double solid inner
5. Possible camping stove addition
Features I really like.
1. Weather and wind shedding capability.
2. Multiple pole options
3. Multiple tie out points for guy lines.
4. Can use my Pacer or any other trekking poles to lower weight.
5. Ample space for kit and getting changed.
6. Easiest tent I have ever had for packing away
7. Takes up very little space in rucksack.
However as with all tents it may look good on first pitch and the principles seem sound but the real proof will be in the using. So will keep this until the end of the year and in to the winter to see how it really performs.

Out trying my new backpacking tent the Nigor WickiUp 3 tent for backpacking and wild camping.
You cant beat some hill walking and wild camping in the Scottish mountains with the Cairngorms offering some rugged yet spectacular scenery at any time of year.
The weather forecast however was to be fairly stormy and wet so decided it would be the ideal opportunity to try out my new WickiUp 3 tent for the first time.
Also decided to try out an American MRE Ration Pack I had received as a gift from a friend just back from over the pond. Had been saving it for my next outing and was keen to see how good it was and what was actually contained inside.
Heavy rain and high winds made for a memorable but sleepless trip as I forgot to bring my earplugs. However the tent so far has performed great and I am looking forward to trying it out more over the rest of the year.
