The New Community Project had its beginnings in the year, 2003, 20 years ago with the idea of “Bringing Change to a World, Seeking Change.” NCP continues to be a small non-profit with a big goal of changing the world. For many, change has happened, one person at a time.
In this first of a two part series, David Radcliff, Director of the New Community Project, shares that the relationships made with partner organizations are the thing that makes change possible. “We only provide the wind to their sails and act as the resource for the recipients.”
Over the past 20 years, that has meant that girls, through the Give A Girl a Chance Fund, have been able to attend secondary schools for higher educational opportunities. GAGAC funds bicycles, to enable many girls to get a bicycle, as a way of helping them get to schools, located 6-7 miles from home.
The fund can also provide basic needs to help girls attend school. Radcliff states, “It is so important to educate girls, for their self esteem, to succeed in life, for better jobs, and for their community. Education is so important. It helps girls have greater income opportunities, preventing them from being a victim of sex trafficking, which occurs in many countries.”
