A woman is dead, and three men are recovering from gunshot wounds after a shooting on Jacksonville’s Westside Monday afternoon. Commander Jacob Vorpahl of our Major Case Section shared the details with the public.
Just before 1 p.m. this afternoon, we received multiple 911 calls about a shooting on Susie Street near Old Middleburg Road. When our officers arrived, they found three people with gunshot wounds: a 57-year-old white woman, a 33-year-old black man, and a 69-year-old black man. All three people were rushed to local hospitals; the woman passed away from her injuries.
Around the same time, a 31-year-old black man arrived at a local hospital with a gunshot wound.
Our Homicide Unit is investigating this case to determine who the suspect and who the victims are. At this time, the investigation is dynamic, and we do not have the answers right now.
We are actively interviewing witnesses who may be able to help us identify what led up to the shooting.
