It’s beach season, but don’t let the warm weather distract you from being safe.
Last month, our Unmanned Aerial Systems sergeant helped Ocean Rescue save two swimmers in distress. Using our drone’s live picture, the lifeguards on land were able to help the lifeguards in the water get out to the two swimmers and get them back to the shore. The two swimmers had been swept out by the current.
We want you to enjoy our beautiful beaches, but we don’t want you to risk your life doing so. Always swim with a buddy and have someone on land who knows you’re in the water. Don’t overestimate your swimming abilities. If the red flag is flying, stay out of the water for your own safety. And if you need help, don’t hesitate to ask Ocean Rescue or Beach Patrol, it’s what we’re here for.
