Botryoidal Spring (2023)
Geysers are hot springs that episodically erupt columns of water. They occur in few places on Earth. The highest concentration of geysers anywhere is at the Yellowstone Hotspot Volcano in northwestern Wyoming, USA.
Botryoidal Spring is a medium-sized, fountain-type geyser in the White Creek Group of Yellowstone's Lower Geyser Basin. Its subcircular platform is about 14 to 15 meters across, with an irregularly-shaped, ~central vent about 2.5 by 4 meters in size. Eruptions are frequent and always start with a moderately large, sudden burst of water, followed by about 30 to 40 seconds of smaller splashing bursts. In recent years, intervals (= eruption start to eruption start) have been ~4 to ~7 minutes.
