Many thanks to @BeaHindebars for the scam numbers. These scammers were so much fun!
I honestly wasn't sure about this scam. It sounded quite ridiculous, honestly. I wasn't sure about the end goal or the randomness of Indian scammers impersonating a home surveillance system. This is why it's important to listen to your teammates. Bea Hindebars had called them a few times to verify the numbers and after calling them myself, I confirmed her suspicions about the scam. Not only do they want remote access to the victims computer, but they also seem to want the victim to stand in front of the camera if remote access is granted, possibly to see the victim from their computer screens. That is both nefarious & disgusting.
Another tactic of the scam is to claim that if the cameras do not work, it is because a subscription must purchased beforehand.
None of these worked on Bob or anyone that called. The numbers were shared by Bea Hindebars and these scammers were plagued with prank calls all day. They were so agitated that they rage quit during the beginning portions of the scam.
I had one scammer call me back asking why I kept calling them back, only to convince the scammer that I hadn't. This resulted in me making the scammer angry for the 3d time in a row after he realized he had been played for a fool.
I will call these scammers on a regular basis from now on. They are so much fun.
