Blaster Master was a highly underrated video game for the NES. I felt like its music was right up there with Rygar for some of the best on the system.

Here I cover the Area 1 music track with just a PO-128 Mega Man Pocket Operator. When arranging the tune, I came to realize it's the bass line that makes it slap. The driving beat just keeps the whole thing moving.

There are only 16 patterns to work with on the Pocket Operators, so I needed to create 4 extra patterns for the intro separately. I recorded it on the PO-128 and synced it up with the fully nostalgic, 8-bit chiptune track here and then added some papercraft reenactment visuals.

Developer: Sunsoft, 1988 (for the NES)
Composer: Naoki Kodaka
