Here's a short video demonstrating how to update the firmware on a Zoom R8 multitrack recorder. The R8 is a feature rich portable studio with two combo inputs, 8-track playback, on-board mics, sample pads with rhythm sequencer, built-in effects, footswitch control, mastering capabilities -- and it can all be run off AA batteries. I find it to be a perfect solution to record small instruments, like Pocket Operators, anywhere in the house or on the go.

The firmware updates over the years have improved the stability of the stand-alone system and it's ability to control DAWs via USB.

The instructions provided in this video should also work to update the firmware for the Zoom R16 and R24.
