There are countless ways to make a Hurricane. Easy, fancy, delish or bad… but this is the version I keep coming back to.
If you’d like to get your hands on this recipe and 129 other classic and modern classic cocktails with full-page photos, just comment “BOOK” and I’ll DM you the preorder link.
The Hurricane has evolved quite a bit over the years, with countless variations ranging from incredibly simple to surprisingly complex. This version is the one I chose to include in my upcoming book because I think it strikes the perfect balance between simplicity, freshness, and flavor.
It’s bright, tropical, ridiculously refreshing, and thanks to its equal-part build, it’s also incredibly easy to remember.
Recipe:
• 1 oz (30 ml) Light Rum
• 1 oz (30 ml) Aged Rum
• 1 oz (30 ml) Fresh Lemon Juice
• 1 oz (30 ml) Passion Fruit Syrup
Add all ingredients to a shaker with a scoop of crushed ice and whip shake. Open pour into a large glass, top with more crushed ice, and garnish with an orange slice, a cocktail cherry, and a cocktail umbrella.
Cheers!
