To me, the best way to set yourself up in your career for most people would be to get an internship and funnel that into your job after college. But then you have to go through the interview process and answer those interesting questions and that's what I'm here to help you with today!

The Importance of Internships
Getting an internship to me if one of the best things you can do early on in your college life. The experience you get from an internship is invaluable and can give you such important information about whether you can really see yourself in a certain career. To me there's nothing worse than going through college, graduating with a degree, and getting a job that you absolutely hate. The earlier you start the better clarity you can get on the direction of your career and you don't waste your time in college.
Tips On Getting That Internship Interview
So find jobs online, apply to a bunch of places, talk with friends and family in the industries you're interested in and see if there's anything open or other companies that are hiring. And what I did, is I visited the company I applied to and just introduced myself and let them know I applied and was excited to hopefully work there.
Interview Questions
1. Tell Me About Yourself
This is a question to see how you view yourself and an insight into your confidence level. If you can't get excited about yourself, how do you expect the company interviewing you to? Usually answer this with some kind of story that relates to the work that you are trying to do.
2. Why Should We Hire You
This question can be your opportunity to show your knowledge of the position and align your strengths with them. Do you research on the position and the company and figure out how you fit their mold and use that to answer this question.
3. Tell Us About A Time You Overcame Adversity or Hardship
This question is one where they are trying to see how resilient you are; are you a problem solver and critical thinker? I remember using college group projects as an example, but the goal is to show how you critically think and how you solve problems with the big picture in mind.
4. What can you improve on?
This question tests your self awareness. Be honest here, and this is not the place to act like you have nothing to improve on. That's a red flag. Talk about a weakness but also your plan to over come it to show that you're self aware and actively make strides to improve on your weaknesses.
5. Do you have any questions for us?
ALWAYS ASK A QUESTION. This shows the employer that you are actually thinking about the job and have some curiosity in the company. The more thought provoking the question the better and you can even use this opportunity to see if the company is even a good fit for you.
