Here are 6 of my most interesting purchases I've made so far in my 20s. Some are acceptable...others are not...We look at these purchases and the lessons I learned from it all. Feel free to add me on instagram: @kikoga
1. Swimming with Sharks
I paid to spend my morning taking a boat out into the middle of the ocean to swim with sharks without a cage. The company was One Ocean Diving and it was a great overall experience where they teach you a lot about sharks. Lesson learned here, for me spending money on experiences is so much more fulfilling than materialistic items when it comes to purchases in my 20s.
2. Fast Food in 2018
2018 was a busy time for me at work and I found it hard to plan ahead and by the time I would leave work, the only thing open would be fast food places. Not the greatest purchase to make as a 20 year old, but it was what I had at the time. Lesson learned is to make sure you plan ahead because your mind will always look to convenience over health and you don't want to make that sacrifice too often.
3. Golf
This was a big one for me, golf in itself is a relatively expensive sport, but it added up especially when I was living at home and is definitely my most expensive purchase as a 20 year old. Lesson learned here is to keep track of your expenses and understand the future value of money to lower your entertainment budget.
4. Manapua
This is Hawaii's second form of currency and I use it mostly to give back to those who help me or ways to recognize good work. This is a purchase in my 20s that I think was well worth it as it enhanced my relationships with others. It's always good to show appreciation.
5. Spontaneous Sports
I spent a pretty penny to attend two football games at the very last minute. Lessons learned here is to plan ahead because usually last minute decisions will cost you more money.
6. Home Bar Supplies
I don't drink, but wanted to help my friends save some money so I bought some bartending supplies to help them make their own drinks. Cuts down on everyones cost! Its always good to make purchases that are good for others as well as yourself.
