You are doing yourself a disservice if you try to excel in your engineering major without collaborating with others. Building a network within your major can prove very valuable and reduce stress while going through your engineering coursework. The more resources you have at your disposal, the quicker you can understand the material and set yourself up for success.

This is almost if not slightly more important than GPA. I believe employers nowadays are realizing that academic success on its own is not necessarily a good indicator of being a great employee. Immersing yourself in organizations, internships, etc. will give you the best chance of landing a job after graduation.

If you have above a 3.0, you should be fine. I wouldn't stress over getting straight A's unless you really want to work for a company that requires it. If you prioritize and set yourself up with experience prior to graduation, GPA becomes less and less important in my opinion.

Better professors will throw nuances into their tests that are similar to practice problems from homework but kicked up a notch. Understanding concepts will help you get past these types of problems.

Those elective classes that are unrelated to your major but required for graduation, should never get in the way of your major coursework and should be GPA boosters. If not, you're wasting your time and money.

To me the best way to do this is through office hours. Most professors are passionate about the subjects they teach and are more comfortable helping and explaining in a smaller setting. If you want to go to grad school, you will need a letter of recommendation so those letters are substantially better when you actually have a relationship with that professor.

There's nothing quite like the college experience, so don't lose sight of that while you're trying to set yourself up for your career.
