The first macronutrient you should set is protein. You should be getting 0.8-1.3g per lb of BW or 1.8 - 2.9g per kg of BW.
Then you set fats at around 20-30% of total calories. And finally you fill up the rest of the calories with carbs.
Is there a difference between hitting your macros precisely or hitting only protein and calories? I'd say the difference is not noticeable in most people.
As long as you get a good balance of fats and carbs, and you hit your calories, you're good.
