After practice graduation I wanted to head up north for a change of scenery, instead of going back to the dreary Joliet area. I picked up Ballparkfrank10 and off we went. We drove by the Chicago Terminal, the crews had finished. Going down York Road (down meaning south) we were stopped at the Thorndale traffic light and saw what looked like a really weird car with weird lettering. As we got the green the train proceeded south with us, it was the CP Track Geometry Train! We scurried down to the Irving Park crossing only to see that a BNSF coal got the ok to go north. Keep in mind the second main was blocked by a CP potash train. We went east to Franklin Park and stopped at the North Central Service station for a couple of CN trains, Metra passed by, the CN's didn't move. Wanting to go to Norpaul yard we spotted a pair of GTW GP38-2's sitting on the IHB main over Grand Ave, the crew was fucking pissed at us. Onto Norpaul, IHB 4010 (the SP bicentennial unit, also one of three GP40P-2's) basks in the private property sun near IHB caboose #1. Hearing a fucked up P3 we went back to the CP main, and were greated with CP G42X (the Mars candy local). Inside Bensenville yard the Franklin Park display train could be seen, CN 'F' units, private cars, an IHB Geep, the DDA40X, etc. etc. The coal train passed on the C&M sub and the geometry train was ready to go. We caught it at Elk Grove Village and Bensenville. The Chicago Terminal had one more job to do, a rare daylight move into Bensenville yard. Thanks to the crew for the help on their route, we caught the train at York road and hoped to catch it again at O'Hare. At O'Hare International Airport an NS Tripple Crown train blew by on the UP (not video nor pictures) and CP 291 with IAIS power (meaning the EMD is leading the GE) gets onto the UP from the C&M Bensenville stretch.
