I don’t know why, but the song just fit for ben and rey in my eyes. This also turned into more like a lyrical video and focusing on how the lyrics fit for them. I fell in love with this song not too long ago. I even taught myself how to play it on the piano, although I never knew what it meant until I began to edit this video.
Vals means Waltz. I related it to the never-ending dance between yin and yang. Yin and yang, their eternal dance.
The more I looked into the lyrics, the more it sounded like them. Their childhood fears reverberating, their childhood traumas resonating with them.
The handful of dreams that scream belonging.
Rey’s "desert dream," and her “heart’s mirage,” the fantasy that her parents will return and take her back. she stays on Jakku because she is waiting, even though she knows the truth and that they’ll never come back.
“My morning does not come, my wound is not healing.” Morning, I assume, refers to light as hope, and Ben believes he doesn’t have it. That he’ll forever be left in the dark. His wounds are the pain and trauma he suffers from as he continues down this path.
I hope you guys enjoy this, even though the song choice is different from my usual :))
