Ben Hackbarth presents AudioGuide, a free program for concatenative synthesis that he collaboratively authored with researchers at IRCAM starting in 2011.

I'll speak broadly about concatenative synthesis as a tool, arguing that, while this type of software can be seen as radical, it can also be seen as building off of ideas present in the acoustic composition tradition. I'll go through how the program works technically and highlight certain innovative aspects as well as certain aesthetic choices that we made. Finally, I'll provide several examples which enumerate ways the software can be extended, including writing for instruments (écriture musicale), working with synthesis and real-time processing, and working with film.
