Beginners Theme Suite (from "Beginners") by Brian Reitzell, Dave Palmer & Roger Neill / Arr. for Piano Solo
I recently watched Beginners for the first time (excellent film, by the way - I highly recommend it), and found myself drawn not only to the story, but also to several of the recurring musical themes associated with its characters.
The score is beautifully understated: melancholic, minimalist, and unmistakably neoclassical in spirit, with much of its intimacy coming from the sound of an upright piano. Naturally, I went looking for the soundtrack as soon as the credits rolled - and here is the result.

Beginners Theme Suite was composed by Brian Reitzell, Dave Palmer, and Roger Neill for Mike Mills' 2010 film Beginners, starring Ewan McGregor, Christopher Plummer, and MĂ©lanie Laurent.
Inspired by Mills' own life, the film explores love, loss, family, and the courage to begin again. Christopher Plummer received the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his unforgettable portrayal of Hal.
Rather than relying on grand orchestral gestures, the score accompanies the film with remarkable restraint. Built around delicate piano motifs and subtle harmonic movement, it quietly mirrors the emotional lives of the characters without ever overwhelming them.

One of the compositions I uploaded yesterday. I heard something very folkloric in it, and I couldnt resist slightly modifying the original. So here we go: North Way is a solo piano composition by Norwegian composer and pianist Otto A. Totland. It is featured on his debut album, PinĂ´, released on January 31, 2014. The piece exemplifies Totlands minimalist and emotive style, characterized by delicate melodies and intimate atmospheres. The album was recorded on Nils Frahms piano, capturing a warm and nuanced sound.
**Otto Andreas Totland (born in Porsgrunn, Norway 1979) is a Norwegian self-taught pianist and electronic musician also performing under the Nest moniker or as half of the Deaf Center electronic duo with Erik K Skodvin.
