Vangelis - Prelude | Piano Solo
An unexpected discovery.
I was actually looking for a different piece by Vangelis, going through various piano interpretations - and instead came across Prelude, a piece I didn’t know before. A few moments in, I already knew I wanted to try playing it.
I found the sheet music almost immediately and recorded this version right away - without even listening to the original yet.

Prelude appears on the album Voices (1995), a work that blends electronic, orchestral, and choral elements in Vangelis’s characteristic atmospheric style.
Music from Voices was later used in the documentary Deep Seas, Deep Secrets (1998), produced by Discovery Channel and The Learning Channel.

Vangelis (Evangelos Odysseas Papathanassiou, 1943 - 2022) was a Greek composer known for his pioneering work across electronic, ambient, and orchestral music.
He is widely recognized for his film scores, including Chariots of Fire (Academy Award, 1981), Blade Runner, and 1492: Conquest of Paradise, as well as the iconic series Cosmos: A Personal Voyage.
