A new theory suggests that Roman London may not have originated in the City of London as previously thought. That a pre-Roman settlement at Southwark, an oppidum named Londonion that was latinized to Londinium after the Roman conquest could be the true origins of Roman London. This video explores this lost landscape of Roman London around the South side of London Bridge and Borough and then this history walk continues on the north side of Thames to connect with established sites of Roman London from the first street in Londinium, to the Forum, London Stone, Mithraeum, Cleary Gardens, the Roman Amphitheatre ending at the site of the Roman Fort.
