Beech D17S Staggerwing D17S, registration N192H, seen departing Old Warden following the Shuttleworth Family Airshow 2024.
Although registered with the United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), this aircraft is based in Holland.
The aircraft was completed in April 1944, with construction number 6723. It was originally destined for the United States Army Air Forces as a Beech UC-43 with assigned serial number 44-76041, but instead transferred whilst in production to the United States Navy as a GB-2 and given US Navy Bureau Number (BuNo) 23706. This explains the GB-2 marking on the tail. It was accepted by the US Navy on 15 May 1944.
It was struck off charge and sold by the US Navy on 31 October 1946 and went on to the US Civil Register as NC68113. This was changed fifteen years later to N192H, which it still retains. It was sold to a new owner in Holland during 2009 and went into storage at Eindhoven. It was restored to flight and flew again at Midden Zeeland, Holland during June 2023.
It's currently owned by Dick de Ruiter of Transal Aero Services, who specialise with the Beech D17S and is based at Midden Zeeland Airport in Holland.
