In celebration of the centenary of the Royal Air Force, University Air Squadrons (UAS), a trio of former UAS aircraft flown over the years, a Tiger Moth, Chipmunk and Bulldog, flew together at Old Warden during the Shuttleworth Best of British Airshow 2025.

The de Havilland DH-82A Tiger Moth is being flown by Adam Lacey. The aircraft was built by Morris Motors at Cowley, Oxford in 1944. It originally carried the Royal Air Force (RAF) serial T6818 when in RAF service. Little is known of its wartime career. After the war it was sold by the RAF and placed on the UK Civil Register as G-ANKT, which it still retains.
It was bought by the Shuttleworth Collection in 1966 and was rebuilt using many components from two other Tiger Moths. It has been completely overhauled, re-covered and finished in the colours of the Royal Air Force Central Flying School (CFS) Aerobatic Team, carrying aircraft serial number K2585.
The de Havilland Canada DHC-1 Chipmunk 22/T.10, is being flown by Phil Hardisty.
It was manufactured in 1950 under construction number C1-0037, part of a contract to build 200 Chipmunk T.10 trainers for the UK Ministry of Defence. It was assigned the RAF serial WB585 and entered service with No.22 Reserve Flying School at Cambridge (Teversham airfield) in March 1950, where it originally wore the fuselage codes RCU-X. Later these were replaced with the number 22.
During the summer of 1953, WB585 went into storage at No.20 Maintenance Unit (MU) at Aston Down in Gloucestershire, following the closure of 22 Reserve Flying School (RFS) during a period of RAF cutbacks and by August 1955, was classified as being ‘Non-effective stock’ and prepared for sale. On 29th June 1956, the aircraft joined the civil register as G-AOSY. In July 1956 work was done at Burnaston, Derby to convert the Chipmunk to Mk.22 standard and G-AOSY was later issued a Certificate of Airworthiness.
It was restored back to its RAF service T.10 configuration by Vintage Fabrics Ltd, culminating in a first post restoration flight at Audley End Airfield on 25 November 2016. It's finished in a livery representing one of the aircraft of the No.2 Flying Training School (FTS) Aerobatic Display Team, ‘The Blue Chips’, based at RAF Church Fenton during the early 1970s. Although it retains serial WB585, the scheme was worn by Chipmunk, WG348, during its time with this 'The Blue Chips'.
This was the aircraft that was Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR) scanned by Airfix for their 1/48 scale Chipmunk T.10 model that was released in 2021.
The aircraft is now owned and operated by the AOSY Group.
Scottish Aviation Bulldog T.1 XX658 / G-SMAT is now owned by Skysmart MRO Ltd and was flown by Tom Turner.
It was manufactured in 1974 with constructors number BH120/316. It was used by Cambridge University Air Squadron (UAS) until being sold by the RAF in April 2000. Originally added to the UK Civil Register as G-BZPS in January 2001, it remained in storage. Then sent by road for restoration to The Aircraft Restoration Company, Duxford in January 2020, it was flown again on 3 June 2024, retaining its original UAS colours.
