Sadly, many bearded dragons are not fed the proper diet in captivity. They have specific requirements that are crucial to get right from day one to avoid many serious health issues, including fatty liver disease, gout, and metabolic bone disease. Failure to provide the necessary food is doubtless part of the reason why so many fat and unhealthy bearded dragons can be found people's collections. A young bearded dragon is going to need plenty of feeder insects from the get-go for it to grow healthily to its maximum size, whilst an adult dragon is mostly reliant on plant matter (which includes vegetables and, preferably, weeds) to keep it going, but still so many people have animals that refuse to feed, having failed to set into motion the good habits that our pets require to stay on a healthy diet. This is why I have made this video: not just to show you how to feed your bearded dragon, but what to feed it, why you should feed it those things, and what to do if your bearded dragon is stubborn or fussy about feeding.
