Left to die in the blazing sun for hours, we suspect this bear was a victim of illegal poaching - another tragic casualty of human-wildlife conflict in Armenia.
Found just outside the village of Elpin, she had been shot in the face. A bullet tore through her muzzle and out through her mouth. By the time our partners at FPWC reached her, she had been bleeding and suffering for hours, alone and in agony.
The rescue team acted fast, rushing her to the rescue center. But despite their best efforts, her injuries were simply too severe. She later died.
