Last week we were at Woburn Safari Park, where our amazing team build group created three of these bear-feeding boxes, which were then tested with the family of black bears at the park. The design has already been used with multiple bear species, including brown bears and polar bears, so it was great to add another to the list.
The box is made of very chunky timber. Internally, it has two 'slides' where mesh can be put in place, and food is put under this. The box also has a chunky 'lip'. With both the mesh and the lip working together, it means as the box is flipped and rolled, only some of the food will come out, meaning it has to be rolled again and again to extract all of the food. It can also be made harder by adding a substrate, such as straw, to the inside of the box.
A huge well done to the corporate team for doing such a great job during the two-hour build, you did amazing!
