We love having the opportunity to create some enrichment devices for the small carnivores at Port Lympne Zoo, and a recent team build gave us the chance to create these ball-in-a-frame devices.
Originally designed by Søren at Odense Zoo, we've now created several different versions of this for many species, and so it was great to create a smaller version for fossa, coati, and more. It can either be used as a feeder (with a hole drilled in the ball), as a novel object, or as scent-based enrichment. For this version, the client was kind enough to bring along their own perfume, which certainly helped to get the attention of the fossa.
A massive thanks to the team for joining us on the two-hour build, and a huge well done for creating these, we'll keep you updated as and when we receive more photos/videos from the keepers.
