Earlier this week you may have seen the spinning pole feeders created for the clouded leopards at Howletts Wild Animal Park, and it was all inspired by this feeder created during The Shape of Enrichment, Inc. course at Lakeview Monkey Sanctuary.
It's actually pretty simple, and we would love to see it replicated (or improved upon) for other species. The round pole is suspended from the timber frame using a swivel attachment. Another swivel is attached at the bottom along with a piece of rope, allowing the round pole to spin and move, but to reduce swinging movement. The holes in the pole can be made as large or small as needed (perhaps a variety would work for some species!) and food is placed inside.
