After opening my request form, I seriously got hit with so many exciting commissions and job changes to where I couldn't start knocking them down - sorry for the wait there! While the requestor suggested I check out the Donkey Kong Land 2 version of this track, I grew up with the SNES one naturally and as a huge fan of David Wise's work I wanted to tribute both while arranging my own version of this track!
Naturally I steered into the Phil Collins' adjacent drum-loop to kick things off, while pulling some more hardcore and prog riffs throughout. You can hear glimpses of the DKL2 version like its arpeggio section, while I kept the pace closer to the SNES. Not only that but I automated a lot of fun whammy pedal FX to get those crazy harmonic spots and I think that gave me more rhythm guitar intrigue in this cover than most!
