A little info on Battlestations: Midway…
Published in 2007, Battlestations: Midway is a unique hybrid action and strategy game that places players in the heart of the Pacific Theater during World War II. Unlike standard flight simulators or naval combat games, it allows you to toggle seamlessly between commanding an entire fleet from a tactical map and taking direct control of individual units. You can pilot a Wildcat fighter during a dogfight, man the deck guns of a Fletcher-class destroyer, or guide a submarine through a silent torpedo run, all within the same mission. This multi-perspective gameplay captures the massive scale of naval warfare while keeping the moment-to-moment action intense and personal.
The game’s campaign follows the journey of a young naval officer, Henry Walker, through pivotal historical milestones starting from the attack on Pearl Harbor and culminating in the titular Battle of Midway. While the storytelling provides a cinematic backdrop, the real depth lies in the rock-paper-scissors mechanics of its combat; players must strategically deploy air, surface, and sub-surface assets to counter the Japanese Imperial Navy's movements.
